..United Microelectronics Corp (ADR) (NYSE:UMC) gained 4.70% at $3.28 on 302K shares. On August 24, 2009, United Microelectronics Corp. announced that its board has approved setting up a new unit to develop solar and light-emitting-diode business. UMC expects the 100%-owned unit's capital to reach NT$1.5 billion. The unit, UMC New Business Investment Corp., will be headed by Wen Yang Chen, currently a senior vice president at UMC
